Today, Melbourne Skydeck, operated by Journey Beyond, was delighted to present the Good Friday Appeal with a cheque to the value of $11,414. The contribution was made possible by donating 25% of all admissions on Good Friday to the Good Friday Appeal, marking the first time Melbourne Skydeck has opened on the Good Friday public holiday since before the pandemic.
The Good Friday Appeal is an annual fundraising event, held to raise money to enable The Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne to provide world-class care for children in need. The event culminates in an all-day telethon broadcast that helps drive donations from businesses and individuals across Melbourne.
“We are proud to contribute to such a meaningful charity event in Melbourne,” says Cesar Piotto, Executive General Manager of Attractions and Dining at Journey Beyond. “As Melbourne Skydeck is a key Melbourne attraction for many families, we feel that it’s important to take part in local charity initiatives that help Melbourne locals.”
The fundraiser was promoted through Melbourne Skydeck’s social media channels with Welbie, the Good Friday Appeal mascot, visiting Melbourne Skydeck ahead of the event. Cesar Piotto also appeared on Melbourne radio station 3AW to raise awareness. In addition to the donation raised from admissions on Good Friday, Melbourne Skydeck and Journey Beyond employees personally contributed to the cause through their own fundraising efforts.
This year, the Good Friday Appeal raised a total of $23,061,320 – the highest amount raised in the event’s almost 100-year history. Melbourne Skydeck is proud to be part of this appeal and thanks all those who visited Melbourne Skydeck on Good Friday, helping to contribute to a worthy cause.
