Taking Fun to New Heights at Melbourne Skydeck

Sky-high Fun

April 2022

There’s always a lot going on at Melbourne Skydeck, the highest observation tower in the Southern Hemisphere, and this month sees several new activities on offer.

Families can take school holiday fun to new heights with a suite of world-class activities at Melbourne Skydeck. Visitors will be spoilt for choice with sky-high fun, including a virtual reality experience like no other and a dancefloor at height, at the kids silent disco.

From 9th-24th April, kids aged 4 to 16 years will gain free entry to the Voyager Theatre when an entry ticket to Skydeck is purchased. The Voyager Theatre is the largest virtual reality theatre of its kind, where guests are taken on an 11-minute immersive journey through 16 iconic Victorian landmarks. Using Positron chairs that complement the film with sound, scent and movement, guests ride Luna Park’s historic wooden rollercoaster, smell freshly roasted coffee as they explore Melbourne’s laneways and enjoy the action of the Australian Open from a courtside seat at Rod Laver Arena.

Up on level 88, kids can dance to their favourite tunes at the sky-high silent disco. Free for kids aged 4-16 years, the dance floor is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, offering 360-degree views of Melbourne’s cityscape. To sweeten the experience, kids will wrap up their boogie with a complimentary Easter egg.

To celebrate Easter, Melbourne Skydeck will also be holding an Easter egg hunt. Count the number of Easter eggs hiding around Skydeck to go into the draw to win a Family Skydeck Annual Pass and a Melbourne Skydeck Easter Hamper, valued at $400. While children enjoy the sights sky-high, parents can catch up over coffee or a drink at Bar 88 and clink glasses as the sun sets over the city.

“We can’t wait to see families making the most of our offerings over Easter. We know that the kids will love dancing in the sky at the silent disco and the VR theatre is just as popular with adults as it is with children,” said Rachel Beaumont-Smith, Acting General Manager of Melbourne Skydeck.

Melbourne Skydeck will be open every day of the school holidays, excluding Good Friday (15th of April) and ANZAC Day (25th of April).

The fun doesn’t end with the school holidays. For couples wanting to experience fun at height, Bar 88 has launched ‘Cocktails in the Clouds’, the perfect package for a date night with a difference.

Take your date to Bar 88 from April 4th – December 30th, 2022, for this unique experience. Available Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, the $88 ‘Cocktails in the Clouds’ special includes admission for two adults to Melbourne Skydeck, two cocktails, and a delicious cheese platter to share.

Share this lofty experience with someone special, be it a friend or significant other. as you sit back and sip on a sumptuous beverage at the highest observation deck in the Southern Hemisphere.
