HORIZONTAL FALLS SEAPLANE ADVENTURE NEW FULL DAY TOUR ITINERARY

HORIZONTAL FALLS SEAPLANE ADVENTURE FULL DAY NOW ENCOMPASSES A VISIT TO BEAGLE BAY ABORIGINAL COMMUNITY AND THE FAMOUS MOTHER OF PEARL CHURCH

Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures, operated by Journey Beyond, is delighted to announce the Dampier Peninsular full day tour now encompasses Beagle Bay Aboriginal Community and the famous Mother of Pearl Church.

Simon McGrath, Executive General Manager of Marine Experience for Journey Beyond says “This is a welcome enhancement and further aligns with Journey Beyond’s promise to guests to go beyond. The full day tour is the only tour where you will soar in a seaplane, cruise in a powerboat and trek across the Kimberley discovering its natural wonders and learning about the Kimberley’s rich indigenous culture, land and community at Beagle Bay”.

With the Broome Cape Leveque Road sealed in recent years, this has made accessing Horizontal Falls from Cape Leveque on our Full Day tour more desirable and seamless. The addition of showcasing the Beagle Bay community and its famed “Mother of Pearl Church” adds a further intriguing element to this already multi-faceted tour”. McGrath added.

Beagle Bay is one of three Aboriginal communities located on the Dampier Peninsula, north of Broome, and represents an intriguing aspect of Western Australian history. The area is home to the Nyul Nyul people who’ve existed in this harsh but pristine coastal environment for thousands of years. The traditional owners have known it as Ngariun Burr which means “surrounded by springs”.

After travelling overland up the Dampier Peninsular through the unique Kimberley landscape guests will visit Beagle Bay Aboriginal community and have the special experience to explore one of the most beautiful churches in Australia, Beagle Bay Sacred Heart Church with its famous mother-of-pearl shell altar.

Anthony Cleary, General Manager Horizontal Falls Seaplane Adventures says, “The church was built entirely by hand by local Aboriginal people and the Pallottine monks who started the Catholic mission in the late 1800s. The detailed mother of pearl, cowrie, volute and olive snail shells are glorious and have to be seen to appreciate how unique and special it is.”

“The Full Day Tour is a great option for people wanting to experience not only Horizontal Falls, but also other amazing sights and experiences that the Kimberley region has to offer. Alongside the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, the Beagle Bay Church as part of the Nyul Nyul community has been a well received addition to the drive component of the tour given its recent exposure pertaining to the “Diamond Dakota” story from WWII. The flight into the Falls from the Cape is my favourite with the Buccaneer Archipelago providing spectacular scenery”. Cleary added.
