Vintage Rail Journeys has officially launched its 2027 brochure and full program of train journeys, offering travellers a unique opportunity to experience the charm of heritage rail travel through regional New South Wales. With three distinctive rail tours and special event departures, guests can immerse themselves in the breathtaking landscapes of New South Wales aboard the beautifully restored ex-Southern Aurora passenger train.
David Donald, Managing Director of Rail & Touring at Journey Beyond says “We’re excited to announce our Vintage Rail Journeys for 2027, which offers a unique blend of nostalgia, history, exploration of regional Australia. Whether you’re drawn to rolling vineyards, charming country towns or spectacular coastlines, every journey invites you to slow down and experience regional New South Wales from the comfort of the rails. In 2027 that experience starts even earlier, with a cruise on Sydney Harbour to kick things off before we’ve even left the platform”.
For the first time, every 2027 journey will include a Sydney Harbour morning discovery cruise before departure, giving guests the chance to relax on the water and meet fellow travellers before they even step aboard the train.
Guests aboard Vintage Rail experience a perfect mix of comfort, charm and adventure with an all-inclusive journey from the moment they step onboard, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all beverages including beer, wine, and spirits as well as Off Train Experiences included in the fare.
“Unique to the Vintage Rail journey is the train travels by day and remains stationary overnight, allowing guests to fully embrace the benefits of slow travel. The decor in your cabin is straight out of the 1960s, and you’ll experience a warm welcome and outstanding service from your hospitality attendants.” says Donald.
The 2027 season promises not just a journey through stunning landscapes, but also an opportunity to connect with local communities and support regional small businesses. Guests will enjoy immersive Off Train Experiences that include river cruises, visits to museums and gardens, and insights from local guides who enrich the journey with their expertise and knowledge.
