ROTTNEST EXPRESS LAUNCHES NEW LATE NIGHT FERRY SERVICE

This Spring and Summer Rottnest Express is thrilled to offer visitors to Wadjemup Rottnest Island the opportunity to enjoy the popular holiday destination for longer, with a late-night ferry service starting from Thursday 14 November.

The last ferry will depart the island at 9pm from Thursday to Sunday from November throughout  January, and then operate Friday to Sunday from February to April 2025.

It means day visitors will be able to experience the island after dark and enjoy the sunset views from some of WA’s most iconic beaches or have dinner at the array of restaurants and eateries before returning to Perth.

“Rottnest Island is a beautiful destination, and we want our guests to be able to linger longer, feel relaxed, and enjoy the stunning beaches and walking trails. Guests can now complete their journey by watching a breathtaking Rottnest sunset with a cocktail in hand, followed by a leisurely evening meal, knowing that Rottnest Express will safely return them home.” says Niko Peranovic, General Manager of Rottnest Express.

The Hon Rita Saffioti, Minister for Tourism says, “We know our beloved Rottnest Island becomes a hive of activity during summer. As we approach the warmer months and the days become longer, it makes sense to provide these late-night ferries, so day trippers get to experience the incredible island sunsets or enjoy dinner somewhere before heading back to Perth.

The later ferry will also benefit island businesses, giving them the option to increase their services and roster on more staff to support the busier summer period.”

Guests now have the opportunity to spend a full day exploring Rottnest Island, with Rottnest Express’s first ferry departing at 7:30 AM. Alternatively, they can opt for a later departure to enjoy cocktail hour, watch the sunset, and have dinner. The late-night ferry service is especially ideal for Red Rider pass holders, which allows WA residents the freedom and flexibility to take up to 10 return trips to Rottnest Island within a 12-month period, offering significant savings.

“Just a short ferry ride from Fremantle or Perth, Rottnest Island has long been one of Western Australia’s favourite holiday destinations. Rottnest Express is more than just a ferry service, offering bike hire, bus tours, adventure tours and more once on the Island. ” Says Peranovic.

The late ferry departs Rottnest Island at 9pm before returning guests to Fremantle. The late ferry service is now available to book, with fares starting from $69 per person *conditions apply.
