Condé Nast Traveler, one of the world’s most respected industry publications, recently announced the results of its annual Readers’ Choice Awards, with The Ghan, operated by Journey Beyond, recognized as the third most popular train journey in the world.
More than 800,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe to provide a full snapshot about the places they can’t wait to return to and travels they’re planning next. The Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry.
The results of the 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards demonstrate the travel experiences guests most long for when they couldn’t travel and what they want to do first when they can again. The full list of winners can be found here.
“We’re a business built on creating lasting memories for our guests and we pride ourselves on giving them an experience they’ve never had before—we operate in some of Australia’s most remote, untouched, and awe-inspiring locations,” said Pete Egglestone, Chief Commercial Officer for Journey Beyond Group.
“Having The Ghan recognised by Conde Nast Traveler readers as one of the world’s best rail journeys is a true honour for us,” Mr. Egglestone continued. “Not only due to the esteem of this award, but because the people who voted for it felt moved to do so. It is certainly one of our most iconic and beloved brands, enriched by its Australian heritage and history.”
As Australia’s leading experiential tourism company, with 13 brands across Australia, including rail expeditions, tours, cruises, camps and lodges, and attractions, Journey Beyond is home to some of the country’s most iconic tourism businesses with extensive experience in remote and regional travel operations, bringing Australia’s most unique and iconic experiences to life.
The 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards are published on Condé Nast Traveler’s website at cntraveler.com/rca and celebrated in the November issue.
