Journey Beyond, Australia’s leading experiential tourism company and brand, is launching a new touring experience in the Kimberley in partnership with Australia’s leading pearling company, Paspaley.
“The new tour offers visitors to Broome the opportunity to experience the most beautiful pearls in the world from a behind-the-scenes perspective,” says Chris Tallent, CEO of Journey Beyond. “As pearling pioneers, Paspaley cultivates stunning pearls at their Pearl Farm in Roebuck Bay, which are then crafted into extraordinary jewellery pieces. Together, we aim to showcase how the beautiful pearls are intrinsically connected with this beautiful part of the world.”
The new Paspaley Pearl Farm Tour sees guests collected from Broome and transported to the beautiful Gantheaume Point Beach, where red sands overlook the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Here, guests will be taken by tender to their seagoing vessel to cruise to Roebuck Bay, a designated Ramsar Nature Reserve wetland site, learning about pearling history, the romance of the pearling industry, and Paspaley’s long and dedicated involvement on route.
At Roebuck Bay, guests are introduced to the Paspaley Pearl Farm and the five stages of pearl cultivation, which mimic nature as closely as possible. Paspaley works hand-in-glove with nature, using a combination of science and careful marine stewardship to produce the most beautiful pearls in the world.
On return to Gantheaume Point, guests return to Broome to visit the Paspaley Boutique and admire Paspaley’s exquisite jewellery collections and contemporary jewellery design. Paspaley’s artisan jewellers combine craftsmanship with traditional time-honoured techniques and innovative technology to create pearl led designs that celebrate the raw beauty of nature and the incredible Kimberley environment that is home to Paspaley Pearls. Refreshments are served at the boutique, and there is the opportunity to sample pearl meat, before guests are returned to their hotel or continue exploring downtown Broome.
