Great Southern Season Kicks Off for its 2021/22 Season

GREAT SOUTHERN SEASON KICKS OFF, RETURNING TO ORIGINAL ROUTE

Friday 17 December 2021

The all-inclusive Great Southern rail journey returns from 17 December, when it sets off from Adelaide for Brisbane, marking the start of its seven-week season.

Returning to its original route through Victoria, the Great Southern’s third season offers new exciting Off Train Experiences, hallmark original experiences, including the Coffs Harbour beachside dinner and more opportunities to dine on board.

With festive celebrations planned for departures on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the Great Southern gives people a unique way to celebrate these occasions in style.

Journey Beyond’s Chief Commercial Officer Peter Egglestone said the crew was excited to embark on the Great Southern’s third season and once again share Australia’s spectacular south-east with guests.

“Nothing says Australian summer like coastal experiences combined with fresh, seasonal food thoughtfully matched with fine wines and attentive and friendly service from crew who love what they do,” Mr. Egglestone said.

“This year, we return to Victoria following last year’s COVID restrictions and we’ve curated several new city-based Off Train Experiences for the journey from Brisbane to Adelaide.

“These new experiences include visits to the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground, the historic Melbourne Gaol, and lunch at the renowned Eureka 89 restaurant. Guests will also have the option to visit the Moorabool Valley for a sumptuous food and wine experience in rural Victoria, complementing the Off Train Experiences already on offer.

“Guests travelling from Adelaide to Brisbane will step off in the magnificent Grampians National Park, enjoy behind the scenes tours at a choice of several of Canberra’s iconic cultural institutions and select from a range of experiences that showcase Coffs Harbour, including the new Coffs Creek Cycle, which will appeal to guests looking to burn off some energy.

“Excitingly, we still have availability on the Great Southern, meaning we can welcome guests who are eager to make the most of their summer holidays and the festive season,” Mr. Egglestone said.
