Journey Beyond has today announced the completion of its acquisition of Kelsian’s national tourism portfolio, significantly expanding its presence across some of Australia’s most iconic destinations.
The acquisition brings a collection of well-known tourism businesses into the Journey Beyond portfolio, spanning cruises, accommodation, sightseeing, tours and marine operations across the country.
In Sydney, the portfolio includes Captain Cook Cruises, The Jackson and The Starship Group, which operate a range of cruises and experiences on Sydney Harbour.
In South Australia, the beloved Murray Princess paddle-wheeler joins Journey Beyond alongside Adelaide Sightseeing. In Western Australia, the portfolio includes Captain Cook Cruises Perth, Swan Valley Tours and Bells Functions. In Queensland, the acquisition adds a significant presence on K’gari (Fraser Island), including Kingfisher Bay Resort, K’gari Beach Resort and K’gari Explorer Tours, as well as Red Cat Adventures and Whitsunday Jetski Tours further north. Operating under the new brand Island Connections will be SeaLink’s Whitsundays, K’gari, Bruny Island (Tasmania), and in the Northern Territory operations to the Tiwi Islands, Darwin-Mandorah and Groote Eylandt.
The expanded portfolio complements Journey Beyond’s existing collection of rail journeys, cruises, unique accommodation and immersive experiences, creating new opportunities for guests to discover more of Australia as part of one journey.
Chris Tallent, CEO of Journey Beyond, said the acquisition marks an important milestone for the company and its continued growth across Australian tourism.
“This is an important moment for Journey Beyond, and we’re proud to welcome these highly regarded businesses, their people and their guests into the Journey Beyond group. These are established tourism businesses with strong connections to their destinations and their communities. We have a lot of respect for what they have built, and our focus now is on supporting our people and continuing to deliver amazing experiences for our guests.”
“The portfolio is highly complementary to our existing experiences and gives our guests even more ways to explore Australia – whether that’s rail to reef, river to resort, or city to sea.”
“We’re excited about what we can create together, while making sure the individual character and stories of these destinations and experiences remain at the heart of what we do.”
